Fisheries Data Sciences Division
In order to accurately understand the state of fisheries resources, it is important to quickly collect and analyze highly accurate information on fisheries and fisheries resources and to develop methods for surveying the state of fisheries resources that are difficult to observe directly. In order to collect and analyze fishing data and develop and advanced methods for assessing and managing fisheries resources, the Fisheries Data Sciences Division conducts the following activities: identifying the fishing activity of foreign fishing vessels in the seas around Japan: research concerning the collection and analysis of fishing data for the purpose of speeding up and making more efficient resource assessment; research concerning the development and advancement of methods for resource assessment and management; and technology development for promoting the practical use of developed methods.
