Aquaculture Economics and Business Administration Office

The office analyzes the aquaculture industry amidst the changing social and economic situations in Japan from a broad perspective. Simultaneously, the office assesses the current situation and issues in the aquaculture industry in cooperation with other divisions in the organization and farming-related businesses across Japan. The office aims to resolve problems in the aquaculture industry in terms of business administration and economic research activities.  These activities include bibliographic and archival research; various onsite interviews, observations, and questionnaire surveys concerning production, processing, distribution and consumption; and analysis of the sentiment and behavior patterns of fishing business managers and consumers.
In particular, to create high added value and expand sales channels for aquaculture products, the office assesses the current situation and deliberates marketing strategies. Moreover, the office clarifies how sustainable aquaculture production under stable production, processing, and distribution systems should operate.
